The issue of the case (The Brief)
The issue of the case was that a refuge from Somalia was locked up several times for confrontations with other cell mates. I believe that this case got very segregated, and racial against Ahmed Ali and his ethnicity. When individuals come from other countries they’re automatically separated from the citizens of the United States. This is how judgmental our country can be by not giving individuals outside our country a chance. If the courts would have investigated this case more closely, and seen that this Refuge from Somalia suffered from post traumatic stress disorder, this case could have been already dismissed.
The National immigrant justice center should be held responsible for this case lasting as long as it did. They put him through some real bad times which didn’t need to happen. In June 7, 2002 Ahmed Ali was placed in an immigration detention, even though in June 2000 he was diagnosed with post traumatic post disorder. (Google Ailv v.Achim) I believe the issue of this case is immigration, and racism which is clearly pointed out in this case. The refuge protection would not protect him as they should of. The immigration detention center thought that Ahmed Ali was harm to the other cell mates. In my opinion the immigration should have been locked up in their own cell.
What they did to this poor man was horrible. The immigration was in the wrong for so much including how long this case took to be dismissed. If they would have looked at all the facts before making judgment Ahmed Ali could have been starting a brand new life for himself. Not to mention Ahmed Ali was detained for over three years and the government kept on rejecting requests to have his terms of detention reviewed.(Google Ali V. Achim). It makes me appreciate so much, and it also makes me wonder about our system and how it really works.
